Overview
In 2011, Digital Bungalow proposed a complete new Amtrak Vacation website, focused on the trip experience rather than just a destination. This was accomplished through an improved informational hierarchy on the website. That was just the beginning; the new site needed promotion and the budget was limited. The client focused their budget entirely on online advertising with a goal of driving 5,000 visits to the new website. Digital Bungalow proposed a different approach and launched a multi-channel marketing campaign promoting a sweepstakes with a chance to win a trip to the Grand Canyon. The campaign garnered 150,000 sweepstakes entries and a 600% immediate return in direct product sales to sweepstakes entrants. The added bonus was a 28% increase in site traffic increased 28% over the previous year, as well as a 48% average pages per visit. Additionally, the sweepstakes built a solid foundation of email addresses for future email marketing campaigns for Amtrak Vacations and the parent company, Amtrak.
