CHALLENGE
Garber Travel is a Massachusetts-based full-service travel agency providing services for both leisure and corporate travel to Garber's global customer base. For the past fifty years, Garber has created value for its customers by staying ahead of the curve and offering innovative products and services to those traveling for business, pleasure, or both. An important service the agency provides corporate clients is the creation of reports detailing corporate travel activity. These reports have many potential uses for clients, including: the creation of detailed travel logs and expense reports, important information which can be used for internal cost control measures, and data on the most frequent destination points for various groups within the organization. Prior to Digital Bungalow's involvement, Garber Travel had been generating these reports on an ad-hoc basis; the data was compiled by an internal application and reports were run by in-house IT personnel; a costly and time-consuming process. Garber wanted to automate the process and provide the reports quicker at a lower cost. Enter Digital Bungalow.
SOLUTION
The team at Digital Bungalow took inventory of Garber's applications and IT infrastructure and quickly determined that the existing in-house application could provide the foundation for a tool that compiled and delivered the important corporate travel data. Digital Bungalow built a custom application that was seamlessly integrated into the client's existing IT infrastructure. Security was assured via the creation of an extranet that corporate clients log onto in order to retrieve their travel reports. Since Internet Protocol formed the basis for the delivery tool, no special skills would be necessary in order for Garber Travel's IT staff to maintain the application.
RESULTS
Today, Garber Travel corporate clients can download a travel report at any time from the Garber site to their PCs. These reports can then be downloaded to another application, such as Excel, for further analysis or can simply be printed from the Garber secure extranet site. In addition to streamlining the process for Garber's IT staff (and freeing them to concentrate on other important duties), the report format is now consistent for the users of the data. Digital Bungalow's cost effective solution enabled Garber to stay ahead of the curve and remain an important partner to their corporate travelers.
